The Origin of Muay Thai Art in Thailand

Mauy Thai is consisted of hard kicking, elbow and knee strikes and boxing techniques. The most distinguishing technique used in Muay Thai is low kicks to the thighs. Stand up grappling is also one of the techniques which is allowed and used in the ring. There is a very high level of physical exercises and conditions which are used in Mauy Thai.

Thai Art

The origin of martial art and sport started from 15 century from the wars of Burmese which formed this kind of fighting art. The famous boxer from the Mauy Thai training camp in Thailand was ‘Nai Khanom Tom’ who was one of the famous practitioners of Muay Thai. In 1774, he got arrested with other Thai prisoners, either in ancient capital of Siam of Ayutthaya or in a skirmish.

He was transferred to Burma, where he was asked to show his skills in a religious festival that too in front of the famous king ‘Mangra’ as he was very curious to watch various fighting styles and because of his amazing fighting art he knocked off every fighter by his powerful punches, kicks, knees and elbows which quickly pummeled his competitors, From where this art became a famous style of fighting in all over Thailand.
